A Message from Our Staff
One morning, while getting ready for the day, I was listening to a YouTube video by a doctor of natural medicine that I like to follow. I (Other Ms. Brown) admittedly am a little bit of a health nut, like my momma 💕. At the end of the video, a commercial for the doctor’s new, free online course popped up. Initially, I thought to skip it. However, I was in a hurry, so I let it play. The course was on Bullet Proofing Your Immune System. To illustrate his point, the doctor drew a little stick figure person on his white board, like the one in the photo above. Then he drew an image that looked a virus.
He began to explain that the stick figure represented the majority of people and how they are all trying to avoid getting sick. However, that’s not exactly what we should be doing.
Now, let me be the first to say that I hate being sick! Who doesn’t? However, the doctor went on the explain how our immune system was created to be an amazing defense system - your army, your military - that wards off any disease that attempts to infiltrate your body. Did you know that God created your immune system to learn and have a memory? When bad pathogens (viruses/diseases) re-enter your body, your immune system remembers from the previous battle, makes your defenses stronger, and enables it to destroy the pathogen immediately. Amazing, right? According to the doctor, that’s why it’s not a good idea to keep children in an overly sterile environment as they are growing up – where they are never exposed or never sick – because encountering different environments is a natural way of building up and strengthening their immune systems. After watching the commercial, God immediately began showing me that that’s exactly what Christians do to their children. They take them out of the schools, or hide them from people (or the world) trying to protect them, instead of strengthening them so they can stand in any environment. Better yet, influence that environment! Some never allow that potential light, the child that God gave them, to influence the very atmosphere that they were created to change (Proverbs 22:6). Which is absolutely crazy! Jesus, our Savior, came to the world to save and change the world. How dare we take the lights that He gave us and hide them from that very same world that He came to save! So, what is my point? I believe, God used this example to illustrate what it really means to be, “…IN the world, and NOT of the world…” (John 15:19) Family, it’s time to come out of hiding, and train up our children! It’s time out for our children being the ones who are influenced, instead of the influencers, the ones hiding their beliefs/values and cowering down, instead of shining their lights because they don’t have a strong foundation and they don’t know who they are in Christ. At Sophia Learning Center, our goal is to ensure that students have a firm foundation, so that when they enter the schools they will be world changers – changing THEIR worlds (schools, homes, churches, families) and influencing them for the better. History has shown us that one person can create change that shakes and changes our world – Harriet Tubman, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the most important world changer of all, JESUS.
Come along side of us and help us train up our little lights, so that they can shine. - The Brown Sisters Enrollment is now open for Sophia Learning Center's 2024-25 School Year. Sign up for a tour on our website, or help us spread the word by sharing this info with a friend.
